"The Formula Windsurfing and Wavesailing Australian Championships are proudly supported by EVENTS TASMANIA"

Held in Marrawah on the North Western tip of Tasmania this event challenged competitors from all states that attended. The event was a big boost for the local economy with 50-60 people frequent the sparsely populated area for up to two weeks. Men's Opens winner was Daniel Berry (Gaastra/RRD/LRS) with second place going to Dean Hendrie (Sailworks/Fanatic/Oakley). http://www.nswwavesailing.org
Smackfest - wavesailing Marrawah - Tasmania
Feb 01-08, 2003

This event was the brain child of Quentin Bye. Peter Volwater showed how it should be done with some massive double forwards and wave moves to challenge the senses. Event winner Peter Volwater thoroughly enjoyed the event and was stoked to be part of this new format. Special mention must go to Jason Atkins from Tasmania who smacked the lip as hard as he smacked himself with a bottle of Jim Beam the night before the main event. Young Jason was doomed to a night hugging the porcelain but instead had a second wind (thanks REDBULL for the product!) and proceeded to entertain those present with his slurs and stumblings at the Event Headquaters.

The Results.
1st Peter Volwater (Pumerend, The Netherlands)
2nd Quentin Bye (Newcastle, Australia).
3rd James Atkinson (Launceston, Australia)
