Club Info:
The Lacepede Bay Sailing Club is located on the foreshore in the South
East town of Kingston (on Marine Parade, about 1 kilometre south of
the Caravan Park).
The Club has well established Clubrooms and Rescue facilities. The Clubrooms have a canteen, bar, toilets and showers and a large lawn area for washing equipment down. It is 100 metres from a sandy beach that runs some 180 kilometres from Cape Jaffa to the Murray Mouth.
We start sailing on the 3rd week in October and finish at Easter. Races start on Saturdays at 2.30pm during daylight saving and 2.00pm at other times of the year. The sailboard fleet of about 15 is accompanied by Catamarans and monohulls.
The Club welcomes visiting sailors and families to join our racing and social activities at any time. Our main regatta is the Annual "LOBSTER REGATTA" in early January.
Lake George
An update on developments at Lake George from local resident and windsurfer Adrian Heard.
Lake George factsheet
Firstly, in January 2007 a new toilet was installed at Foster Point, which will make life more comfortable there in future. It has even been designed to face east this time, so that the door won't blow off each time you go to the toilet. Secondly, I have done some regeneration of the camping area, planting a couple of patches out to melaleuca seedlings - one of these areas is pretty obvious as it is bounded by tree guards. I would very much appreciate it, if windsurfers help ensure that these seedlings get a good chance to grow, and ensure the camping area has a mix of some young and old plants for the future. Lastly, the lake has risen about 30cm since the low of May 2007 - this low level was only slightly above the low of May 2000.
We will need further good winter rains to ensure a full lake by October 2007.
Hopefully the annual Lake George speed / slalom / marathon weekend will take place there again this year, but we’ll just have to monitor water levels for now. If the lake doesn’t reach satisfactory levels, then a similar event will be planned for another location.
